Contribute to Shorebird Conservation

The National Shorebird Count in Mandurah is part of a larger nationwide citizen science initiative that monitors shorebird populations.

The count helps track the health of shorebird populations and understand the factors affecting them, including migratory patterns. The Bindjareb Djilba (Peel‑Harvey estuary) is a crucial stopover point for many migratory shorebirds, and the data collected contributes to the understanding of their conservation status.

In Mandurah the count is facilitated by the Peel-Harvey Catchment Council, in consultation with Birdlife WA and local birdwatchers, as part of BirdLife Australia’s Shorebird Monitoring Program.
